When mixing alcohol and water we observe molecular interactions and spatial reconfiguration. This results in contraction of the volume of the final solution. This tool helps you correctly dilute alcohol with water. It works with 2 calculation methods: simple method (basic calculation taking into consideration only volumes and alcohol percentages) and advanced method (here we also correct for the volume contraction effect). Calculations are based on the density values of alcohol-water solutions at a temperature of 20 °C. The calculator works best with classic spirits. Please, rely on other methods if your alcohol is highly sweetened/flavored.
Units of measurementThis calculator can use any unit of measurement because the calculations are relative. Here we use litres, but it will work just the same with mililitres, gallons, etc.
